“Shepards Pie” Ground Beef Patties

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 package of Main St Bistro® Signature Mashed 24oz Potatoes
  • 1lb. ground beef 80/20
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ cup frozen carrot, corn & pea medley

Preparation

  1. Heat mashed potatoes according to package directions and reserve.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients along with ½ cup of the potatoes and mix thoroughly.
  3. Shape beef mixture into four 6 oz patties pressed to ½” thickness.
  4. In a pan big enough to hold all four patties, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3 minutes on each side until dark brown on both sides. With a meat thermometer, make sure the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and rest for 3 minutes. Place the patties on an oven-proof tray.
  6. Scoop and distribute the remaining potatoes on top of each patty and spread evenly over each patty.
  7. Place under a broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the potatoes are golden on top.
  8. Remove the tray from the oven and rest for 2-3 minutes. *Optional*: Serve with Reser’s Homestyle Gravy.
